BUFFALOES OF THE WEEK
Padilla brothers Honor the Code
buffs of the week
Manteca High’s Alex and Eddy Padilla, who has been receiving treatment for a brain tumor, were honored Friday at their home as Buffaloes of the Week. They were recognized for their positivity as part of the school’s Honor the Code program.

The signs on Friday said it all for the two Buffaloes of the Week.

“We miss you, Eddy.”

“The Buffs are backing you up.”

“The Buffs (love) the Padilla Brothers.”

Alex and Eddy Padilla were honored at their home by the school’s administrative team, Stephanie Hjelmstad (Activities Director), Mary Ann Tolbert (Link Crew Advisor), Marisela Martinez (Bilingual Paraprofessional), Kimberly Martinez (Counselor), Anna Wooten (Special Ed. Teacher), Carol Creighton (Digital Media) and students from both Link Crew and Leadership.

As Buffaloes of the Week, they served as inspirations of Honoring the Code for their positivity.

Alex Padilla is a senior while his brother, Eddy, is a junior battling a brain tumor known as astroblastoma – he was diagnosed last May with the rare glial tumor that’s usually located in the cerebral hemisphere of the brain.

Eddy Padilla was airlifted almost a month to UC Medical Center for emergency treatment.

“He’s looking better,” said MHS Assistant Principal Todd Dunaway.

He added that both brothers are noted for being “good students and very positive.”

MHS has since established GoFundMe (gf.me/u/zmmi32) and Meal Train (https://mealtrain.com/qm6yw5) accounts for the Padilla family.

Alex and Eddy, in addition, received Honor the Code t-shirts, bracelets, and gift cards including one to Chick-fil-a, The Habit and Mr. Pickle.
