While most San Joaquin County residents prefer to ride out the dog days of August in air-conditioned homes or backyard pools, a cadre of teenagers from Manteca, to Lodi will spend a Saturday donating hundreds of hours of service to improve the Greater Stockton area.

On Aug. 18, some 300 teenagers will join with several local organizations to fill needs those organizations have identified.  The partner organizations include retirement homes, convalescent hospitals, cemeteries, homeless and women’s shelters, children’s homes and veteran service organizations.  Also participating will be San Joaquin County Parks, Stockton Rocks for Cancer Patients, Be Tech Kiwanis Key Club, Cub Scouts of America, Billion Graves, Stars for Our Troops, OperationGratitude.com, FamilySearch.org and JustServe.org.

The event is being organized by the youth of the Manteca Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of a day-long conference for teenagers.

Organizations which are interested in receiving help or joining in the effort should go to mantecastakeyouth@outlook.com for more information.
