Police Chief Steve Schluer and his team from the Manteca Animal Shelter also took part in the Animal Shelter Summer Olympics in Lathrop.

It was the first-ever Animal Shelter Summer Olympics.

The Lathrop Animal Center hosted the recent 2024 event.

Featured were dogs from the Manteca Animal Shelter, Tracy Animal Shelter, and, of course, Lathrop.

The dogs from the respective animal shelter competed in three main events – obedience, agility, and jumps.

The Lathrop team earned a silver medal in obedience and struck gold in both agility and jumps.

“All the teams did an amazing job,” said the City of Lathrop Police Department via social media earlier this week.

The Animal Summer Olympics also displayed the best of dogs who are seeking adoption.
