Lathrop Police arrest suspect in theft of various dog & cat food worth $1,200

The Lathrop Police Department arrested a Stockton man in connection with the theft of about $1,200 worth of cat and dog food taken from Diamond Pet Foods and other charges.

The Lathrop Police Department reported Tuesday the theft involving about $1,200 worth of cat and dog food from the local Diamond Pet Foods.

FTO Matthew Hector and Officer Sanchez responded to the incident.

“Through determined follow-up and collaboration with our Investigations Unit, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect’s vehicle in Stockton,” said local police, who thanked the Stockton Police Department for their assistance and support.

Identified through these efforts was the driver of the vehicle, Jose Casillassolis, 26, from Stockton.

The suspect was contacted and a record check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Sacramento.

Officers also confirmed that Casillassolis was in possession of the stolen pet food.

As the investigation progressed, police located methamphetamine and a replica firearm inside the vehicle, which also had multiple license plate (none of which belonged to it) inside.

Casillassolis was arrested on multiple felony charges and booked into San Joaquin County Jail.

As of the stolen pet food, it was recovered and returned to the rightful owner, police added.
