A man was killed in a traffic collision Tuesday evening on Union Road at Louise Avenue.

Witnesses said the vehicle the man killed was driving appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed when it slammed into a truck making a turn. Preliminary indications were that the vehicle that struck the truck did not appear to have attempted to brake.

Damage was major to both vehicles in the accident that occurred shortly before 8 p.m.

There were also several children in the car that struck the truck.

The injured were transported to area hospitals.

Manteca Police as of press time had not released the name of the deceased. Police had no other details.

It was the third fatal accident this year in Manteca.
