The City of Ripon continues to reduce its water usage.

For November, residents used 19 percent less water  than that of the 2013 levels during this time of year, according to Public Works Director James Pease in his report at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.

He noted that, based on the year-to-date info, water usage was up by 2 percent, comparing those numbers to November 2022.

During the past month, Pease reported that 144 residents were contacted for being violation of the water conservation ordinance.

Of that, two were hit by penalties for being repeat offenders.

He added that 75 percent of those contacted were in violation of watering on the wrong dates. “They were not aware of the new schedule,” said Pease.

The schedule currently calls for those living in homes with odd-numbered addresses being allowed to water their landscape just on Sundays.

Folks with even-numbered addresses can only do so on Saturdays.

No watering is allowed between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 48 hours following measurable rain fall.
