The City of Lathrop Police Department arrested a juvenile Monday on charges of reckless driving and drug possession.
Officer Michael Bower observed a gray Honda Civic speeding and running stop signs near Brookhurst Boulevard and Golden Valley Parkway in the Mossdale Landing area of Lathrop.
“Before a stop could be made, the driver crashed into a speed limit sign, disabling the vehicle,” police said via social media on Wednesday.
The driver was a juvenile from Lathrop, who was detained at the scene.
A search revealed that the young suspect had marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, nicotine vape pens, and other items consistent with drug sales.
He was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.
“This kind of reckless behavior puts everyone at risk—drivers, pedestrians, and families in our neighborhoods,” said Lathrop police, in their efforts to help keep roadways safe while protecting the community from illegal drug activity.
