Poag & McEwen promised that The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley - when completed - would have a “warm downtown feeling” where people would be encouraged to stroll leisurely between stores, enjoy water features and sit beneath shade trees.

Additional improvements being made with the construction of retail space to accommodate more than 40 upscale outlet stores being leased through Craig Realty will complete that feel.

Meanwhile, Craig Realty has teamed up with the Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau to start staging events designed to encourage the community and region to use Orchard Valley as a gathering place.

Among the upcoming events taking place at Orchard Valley through the auspices of the CVB that also operates the Manteca Visitors Center located at the lifestyle center are as follows:

•The Crossroads of California Street Fair carnival from Wednesday, April 7, through, Sunday, April 11. It will run concurrently with the CVB’s downtown street fair on April 10-11. The carnival will be set up between Best Buy and JC Penney. Advance discount tickets will be available at the Manteca Visitors Center. The carnival hours will be noon to 10 a. m. April 7-8 as well as 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 9-11.

•Police motorcycle skills competition involving agencies throughout Northern California on Saturday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

•Child seat safety fair organized by the California Highway Patrol on Sunday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those dropping by can have car safety seats checked for proper fit. There also will be free car seats available for those who need them.
