Sponsors for the upcoming annual Rina’s Run gathered on the Ripon High School track to demonstrate their support for the Saturday, May 11, 5K/half marathon run/walk.

The fundraiser is focused on the ongoing Ripon High Stadium revitalization. The effort has already seen a transformation of the field and its facilities for football as well as for track and field events including new grass and a state-of-the-art scoreboard with a promised all-weather track.

The sponsors include Bob Brocchini, of Brocchini Farms; Todd Filbrun, of Kurios (solar) Energy; Dave Kamper and Bere Lindley representing SSJID; Kelly Cole and Kim Bellino, DiBuduo & DeFendis; Kevin Hawes, Ability Mortgage and Gregg Wilson, Vernon Transportation.

The half marathon is set to start at 7 a.m. followed by the 5K walk and run at 8:30 a.m. Runners will be hosted to breakfast by the Ripon Rotary Club. They will also receive T-shirts, post race refreshments and finishers’ medals.  Entries received after today are not guaranteed a shirt, however.

Efren Martin, the Quake DJ, will be announcing in the stadium. The burrito breakfast is set to be held in the high school multi-purpose room adjacent to the starting and finishing line on North Maple Avenue on the high school campus.

The half marathon route will take runners out to the Caswell State Park on the Stanislaus River south of Ripon.

The fee for 5K runners, 17 and under, is $25; those 18 and up after April 15 will be $35.  The half marathon fees after April 15 for those 17 and under and 18 years old and up increase $10 to $60 and are payable through May 11, the day of the event.

Medals will be presented to the first, second and third finishers in each category.  A vendor and health fair are scheduled for the stadium.
