California Connections Academy @ Ripon opened two years ago.

Since then, the online public school serving kindergarten- through- 12th- grade students has grown to 500 students.

Those taking part in this personalized tuition-free online education come from San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, Amador, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and Sacramento counties.

“The school has continued local growth, in line with statewide trends where multi-district fully online schools grew year over year in California by 73 percent, and 289 percent over the last five years,” said Annie Drury of California Connections Academy.

She announced that open enrollment for the virtual academy’s 2014-15 school year is currently taking place. The site location is 580 N. Wilma Ave., Ripon.

The school combines state-certificated teachers with a curriculum that meets the rigorous state education standards coupled with expanded learning opportunities. Included are the Career Technical Education courses and the Julliard eLearning program tailored for the different grade levels.

In addition, the school is hosting free family information sessions that can be arranged online or in-person.

“Every family should feel empowered to choose the education that works best for them, and now is the ideal time to begin exploring education choices for the upcoming school year,” said Principal Tim Batiuk.
