The Ripon Unified School District once again saw a dip in enrollment last month.

At the Jan. 14 school board meeting, Kathy Coleman, who is director of curriculum and categorical programs, revealed startling enrollment numbers. Her figures from December revealed the district was down 11 students in a month and 81 overall from a year ago.

Ripon High went from 860 students in November to 851 last month. A year ago, Ripon High boasted an enrollment of 882.

RUSD started the school year with 3,023 students, jumping up to 3,034 in September before dipping in October (3,021) and November (3,012).

At the elementary school sites, Ripon Elementary reported 438 students in December, Ripona had 432, Weston claimed 445, Colony Oak 406, and Park View remained at 407 for the third straight month.

In fact, enrollment figures at each of the elementary school sites have remained consistent since the start of the school year.

In addition, the independent studies’ numbers have increased gradually every month, going from 16 students in August to 22 in December.

RUSD reported 3,076 students in January 2012. This month’s figures won’t be revealed until the February school board meeting.
