Ripons Parks will have vote at League of Cities conference

Ripon Councilman Jake Parks was selected to attend the upcoming League of California Cities conference in Los Angeles. More importantly, he’ll represent the City of Ripon as the designated voting delegate during the annual business meeting at the General Assembly on Sept. 5.

“The advantage of sending a delegate is that you get the most up to date information to share (with Council),” Mayor Chuck Winn said at last Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.

Parks’ vote could give the City that opportunity to be of influence that day, Winn believes. He also urged Dean Uecker to serve as an alternative voting delegate.

Council agreed, voting 5-0 to send Parks to conference as the voting delegate and Uecker as the alternate.

The annual conference will be held at Los Angeles Convention Center, from Sept. 3 to 5. Councilman Leo Zuber and Vice Mayor Elden ‘Red’ Nutt were both unavailable to attend. Park was willing and able.

“We’ve already discussed getting out and attending these events,” he said,

Cost for the conference is $500 and hotel and accommodations at $185 to $199 per night.
