STCOKTON — The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host its 11th Annual Latina Business Conference & Luncheon on Thursday, March 22, at the Hilton Hotel, 2323 Grand Canal Blvd.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a trade show, workshops and the luncheon to follow.  The theme for this year’s event is “Health & Wellness in the Workplace.”

“This year our committee wanted to focus on health in the workplace,” said Mark Martinez, CEO of the SJCHCC.  “Our keynote will show us how important exercise and nutrition are to our productivity not just in the workplace but in our lifestyle.”

The keynote speaker for the luncheon is celebrity chef, Chef LaLa, owner of Chef LaLa Homemade, a line of Videos, Recipes, and cooking products for on-the-go Women and Latinas.

Chef LaLa learned how to cook in her grandmother’s cocina and family restaurants.  Born and raised in East LA, she loved the aromas and flavors of Mexican recipes but also knew that these ingredients led to health issues down the road.  She became a certified nutritionist and emphasized using fresh natural ingredients focusing on health.  Her efforts have landed her on The Today Show, Dr. Oz, Martha Stewart Living, and Despierta America.  She has written two cookbooks, Latin Lover Light and Best Loved Mexican and is a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.

Trainings and classes will focus on Financial Health, Reducing Stress at Work and Home, Exercise & Stretching at the workstation.  Sponsors for the event include Wells Fargo, Kaiser Permanente, Food 4 Less/Rancho San Miguel, La Tricolor 100.9, and San Joaquin County WorkNet.  Tickets for the event can be purchased at the SJCHCC office and will cost $75.
