STOCKTON  (AP) — Law enforcement officials have arrested seven people in Stockton as part of a crackdown on street gangs that police say have been responsible for a recent spate of shootings.

Wednesday's sweep targeted 12 locations in Stockton and netted Ecstasy pills, marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, body armor and four firearms in addition to the arrests.

Police said the operation was part of a crackdown on two criminal street gangs, the Bloods and Crips.

A feud between the two gangs is believed to most recently have been behind an afternoon shooting at a carwash on Jan. 8.
