TRACY —  The Grand Foundation is now accepting short film submissions for its 2018 Student Film Festival taking place on March 17 at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts in Tracy.
The final deadline for film submissions students is Jan. 5.
The Student Film Festival will showcase short films from college, high school and immersive digital/film/arts high school students throughout California, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon. Films must be between three to 15 minutes in length. Submitted films will be juried by a panel of judges, and accepted films will be live-screened before the public. The Grand Foundation will present $3,250 in awards for the best student films.
Entry fees prior to Dec. 15 are $20. After that they are $30 until the Jan. 5 deadline.
Now in its second year, the Grand Foundation Student Film Festival is designed to inspire young filmmakers and give them an attainable venue in which to have their short film live-screened, juried and awarded. Student film genres will include indie, experimental, animation, documentary, political/cause, narrative and PSA, and others.
The Student Film Festival will also feature a film-talk from the film/TV industry, a jury panel discussion with questions from the audience, and an audience choice award contest. The day-long event will culminate with a filmmaker awards reception.
