Teen struck while crossing Moffat near Manteca High

A 14-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Moffat Boulevard and Garfield Avenue sustaining possible major injuries, according to police.

The youth reportedly suffered broken bones and head injuries in the incident.  Manteca Police who found him on the ground provided emergency first-aid at the scene until the ground ambulance arrived and took over.  Medics called for a helicopter air ambulance but none was available in the region, according to first responders.

The ambulance crew transported him in freeway traffic with lights and siren to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment of his injuries, police said.

There was no report of his condition at press time.

The driver involved was a 22-year-old from Lathrop.
