Youth & teen Youth Focus competitions Saturday

What do dancing, singing, soccer, competitive cup stacking and Marilyn Monroe all have in common? You will definitely want to come to the Manteca Youth Focus Scholarship Competitions to find out!.

The final show is set for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Community Church on Lathrop Road. It will feature contestants in the 10-12 and 13-15 age divisions. Tickets are $5 and available for purchase at the door.

The competition under the direction of Shim Lacy-Watson and Judi Whitby will feature entertainment with a special Hollywood theme including a Marilyn Monroe impersonator and local favorites Matt Vaughan and Dan Lansford serving as hosts and MYF alumni Stephanie Hilson, Katelyn Johnson, Cheyenne Milligan, Ashley Parker, Kristina Priest-Stamper and Lauren Robins as guest vocalists.

All participants will receive educational scholarships and the top 3 boys and girls in each age division earn “titles” representing signature events & organizations in the community. Contestants compete in 6 phases of competition including Community Service Résumé, Scholastic Achievement, Personality Interview, Community Advocacy Speech, Talent and Impromptu Questions. Miss Young Manteca contestants are:

• Sheylyn Marie Salsedo Pokorny is 10 years old and in the 4th grade at St. Anthony’s Catholic School. Sponsored by Joelle Machado, Susan Salsedo, Irene Martinez and her parents Brett & Angela Pokorny, she will present a vocal solo for her talent.

• Rian Lee Sinclair Shaw is 12 years old and in the 7th grade at Golden West Elementary School. Sponsored by family and friends, she will be presenting a vocal solo for her talent.

• Ashlynn Nicole Nussbaumer is 11-years old and in the 6th grade at Big Valley Christian School. Sponsored by BC Planning, Tipton’s Stationary, Fred Stellhorn Optometrist, Trang Duong DDS, J&J Printing and Debra Van Essen – Farmers Insurance Agent, she will be presenting a dance solo for her talent.

• Hailey May Jewel Jones is 12 years old and in the 7th grade at Golden West Elementary School. Sponsored by her family & friends, she will be presenting a cheer dance solo for her talent.

• Charissa Mae Goodman is 12 years old and in the 7th grade at Williams Middle School. Sponsored by Steven Jung DMD, Carlos Sanchez DDS and JM Equipment, she will be presenting a dance solo for her talent.

• Arianna Jacqlyn Kurys is 10 years old and in the 5th grade at Brock Elliott Elementary School. Sponsored by Darlene’s Dog Grooming, Las Casuelas Mexican Restaurant and Central Valley Veterinary Hospital, for her talent she will present a vocal solo.



Young Manteca City Ambassador candidates are:

• Tyler Jordan Plath is 10 years old and in the 5th grade at Great Valley Academy. Sponsored by Billie Hills Hillbilly Bar-B-Q, The Book Exchange and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, for his talent he will present a dance solo.

• Bradley Philip LeBaron is 10 years old and in the 5th grade at Great Valley Academy. Sponsored by Manteca Martial Arts, Brad will be presenting a guitar and vocal solo.



Miss Teen Manteca contestants are:

• Allison Rae Nussbaumer is 13 years old and in the 8th grade at Big Valley Christian School. Sponsored by BC Planning, Tipton’s Stationary, Fred Stellhorn Optometrist, Trang Duong DDS, J&J Printing and Debra Van Essen – Farmers Insurance Agent, she will be presenting a dance solo for her talent.

• Katherine Lindsey Ray is 14 years old and in the 8th grade at Stella Brockman Elementary School. Sponsored by her parents Dale & Tanya Ray, she will be presenting a competitive cup stacking demo for her talent.

• Emma Renee Scott is 15-years old and in the 11th grade at Big Valley Christian High School. Sponsored by CBF Solutions and Dowell-Hoogendoorn Chiropractic, she will be presenting a dance solo for her talent.

• Priscilla Alexandra Ohnmacht is 14 years old and in the 9th grade at Sierra High School. Sponsored by Khalifa Orthodontics, she will be presenting a martial arts demonstration for her talent.

• Cynthia Frausto is 14 years old and in the 9th grade at Sierra High School. Sponsored by Sadie’s Salon and Garcia’s Ornamental Iron Works, she will be presenting a vocal solo for her talent.

• Nancy Ivonne Enriquez is 14 years old and in the 9th grade at Sierra High School. Sponsored by Cheema Dental Corporation and the Enriquez family, for her talent she will present a ballet folkloriko dance solo.



Teen Manteca City Ambassador candidate is:

•  Eriq Hunter Kurys is 14 years old and in the 8th grade at Brock Elliott Elementary School. Sponsored by Gearheads Motorcycle Shop and Fine Line Hot Rod Interiors, for his talent he will present an informative soccer demonstration.
