Afonso Valentim, 87, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Manteca. He was born in Porto, Portugal on February 7, 1928.
   Afonso leaves behind his loving wife Irma Valentim of Manteca, his children Victor, Marie, Ray and Sophia. He was blessed with six grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition Afonso has two surviving siblings in Portugal.
   Afonso was a Manteca resident. He emigrated from Portugal, where he was part of the Portuguese military and over the years settled in Manteca. He met and married Irma and raised their family. Afonso worked in agriculture most of his life. He was hard working and always put his family first. Afonso enjoyed the simple things in life. Tending to his garden was his passion. He loved his family unconditionally and treasured every moment. Afonso was an excellent husband and a loving father. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA.
