Carl Dean Neaterous, 77, of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville.  The son of Vernon and Laura Mae (Todd) Neaterous, he was born March 15, 1942, in Quincy, Illinois.  He married Tammi Neaterous, on October 6, 2013, at Atkins, Arkansas.
   Carl was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam war era.  Rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, he gave more than 20 years of service to his country.  He was a member of the American Legion in Little Rock, Zoning Commissioner of Manteca, California, and past Senior Vice President of the Northern California Senior Softball Association (NCSSA).  Carl worshiped with his faith family as a member of the First Assembly of God Russellville.   He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and great friend.  He enjoyed softball, playing cards, country music, dancing, working in his yard and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and was an animal lover.
   He was preceded in death by his parents. The family he temporarily leaves to cherish his life and memory include his wife, Tammi, and his three sons, Michael Neaterous (Janice) of Russellville, Ronnie Neaterous (Stella) of Manteca, California, and Kenneth Neaterous (Janet) of Broken Bow, Nebraska, and his daughter, Cherena Esslinger (Jeff) of Lincoln, California; five wonderful grandchildren, Veronica Uecker, Tina Nuece, Eric Neaterous, Laura Wiedover and Amber Neaterous, and five great-grandchildren.
   Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at Humphrey Chapel.  Rev. Chad Duvall will officiate.  Burial will be at Fort Smith National Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by the Fort Sill Honors Unit.  Memorials may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), P.O.
