Diego Bueno Sabiniano,  age 79 of Manteca, CA en- tered into eternal rest on  May 30, 2011 surrounded  by his loving family following a valiant battle  with cancer.

Diego was born on No- vember 12, 1931 to the late

Eugenio and Carlina Bueno  Sabiniano in the province  of Pangasinan, Philippines.

After finishing high school  and briefly working in the  gold mines of the Philip- pines, Diego enlisted in the  U.S. Navy on January 11,  1955.  He served aboard  five U.S. Aircraft Carriers  during his 20-year military  career which included serv- ice in the War of Vietnam  where on November 15,  1968 his company suffered  an explosion which killed  two sailors and wounded  nine others including Die- go.  He earned a Purple  Heart Medal for this event  in addition to other numer- ous medals during his mili- tary service.  After retiring  from the Navy, Diego  worked for the State De- partment of Corrections at  Duel Vocational Institution  in Tracy for 20 more years.

Diego was a member of the  FUSVA, American Legion  Post 798, FILCOM and  other community organiza- tions, enjoyed gardening,  home-improvement proj- ects and working on cars,  along with spending time  with his grandchildren dur- ing his spare time.  Stern  yet gentle, he was a gener- ous man who touched the  lives of many with his jovi- al personality.

Preceded in death by his  parents and his brothers  Federico and Moises, Diego  is survived by his devoted  wife of 52 years Victoria of  Manteca, his daughters  Marivic Refuerzo of Man- teca and Mary Ann Di Sca- la (Bruno) of Olympia,  WA, his son Dwayne Sabi- niano of Stockton, his be- loved grandchildren Chris- tian and Maia Di Scala of  Olympia, his older sister  Marcelina Duque of the  Philippines, his younger  brother Juan Sabiniano of  Vacaville and numerous  cousins, nieces and neph- ews.

Mr. Sabiniano’s services  are under the direction of  PL Fry & Son Funeral  Services.  Friends and fami- ly are invited to attend a  viewing from 1 to 3 pm on  Sunday June 5th, followed  by a rosary service at 3 pm  at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N.  Union Rd., Manteca, CA   95336.  A funeral Mass will  be celebrated at 10:30 am  Monday, June 6 at St. An- thony’s Catholic Church,  505 E. North St., Manteca,  CA 95336 . Christian and  military burial will be at  East Union Cemetery, 1035  N. Union Road, Manteca.
