Dorothy Edgar of Manteca passed away on May 17, 2010 in Ripon, CA, at the age of 96. She was born on May 18, 1914 in Woodland, CA. Dorothy was a knitting instructor for 20 years, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and did many hours of volunteer work at the VFW Hospital in Livermore, CA for many years. She loved to travel, fish, and play the slots. She loved all her family very much and had many friends.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jim Lawton of Citrus Heights, CA, and Betty Knapp of Manteca, CA.; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Marvin Burkett of Sonora, CA.; her sister, Pearl Grant of Escalon, CA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Edgar, and her son, David Lawton.

A memorial service for Dorothy will take place on Friday June 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Park View Memorial Chapel, 3661 E. French Camp Road in Manteca. Internment at Park View Cemetery was private. Contributions to Dorothy’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.
