Francisco Hoover

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, Francis Jay (Mike) Hoover went home to be with his Lord and Savior with his family by his side.

Mike was born on July 11, 1933, in Cherry Creek, New York, to Cyril and Dorris Hoover. His family moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1947. He attended Van Nuys High School and graduated in 1951. After graduation, he attended Valley Junior College. He was then drafted by the US Army where he served his country proudly during the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, Mike married the love of his life, Dolores Gardner, on June 1, 1956. Together they celebrated the births of one son and three daughters and 62 years of marriage. Professionally, he had a distinguished 38-year career with General Motors, which brought he and his family to the Bay Area in 1970.

Mike was a devoted family man who enjoyed golf, camping, and spending time with his friends and family who remember him as an honorable man with a quick wit and strong Christian faith. He will be forever thought of as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and G-Pa.

Mike has now been reunited in Heaven with his parents, his brother Ronny, and many other friends and family.

He is remembered and missed by his wife Dolores, son David (Lindsey), daughters Becky (Scott), Pam (Ron), and Jill (Mike), grandchildren Ryan, Joel, Michael, Tricia, Christopher, Clint, Daniel, Andrea, Blake, Tiffany, Wesley, and Spencer and their spouses as well as 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dick, and sisters Joyce, Donna, and Cindy.

P.L. Fry & Son Chapel is honored to be serving the Hoover Family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, at the Southwinds Church of Tracy, 13400 W. Middle Rd., Tracy, CA 95304.  A private burial will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the memory of Mike Hoover to OkipeHaiti, www.okipe.org. An online guest book for remembrances and condolences is available at www.plfryandson.com.
