John Lee Preyer II was born on March 10, 1954 in Montgomery, AL to the parents of John Lee and Rosie Nell Preyer. He was the first of two children. John was called (Johnny Kool) by friends and family starting at an early age, in Cleveland, OH where he attended St. Adalbert and Benedictine all boys school.
