Manuel Alfred Nunes, age 92, entered into rest on September 12, 2012, in Stockton, CA. Manuel was born on December 5, 1919, in Visalia, CA., the first born of Manuel O. and Alvina Deniz Nunes. His father was from Raminho, Terceira, Azores, and his mother was from Hanford, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years, Betty Nunes, his son Alfred Rici Nunes, his daughter Joy K. (Nunes) McGehee, and his sister Alvina Bunker. He is survived by his daughters, Gaelynn Nunes of Lodi and Vici Kroll of Dublin, his grandchildren David Lotman of Los Angeles, Leah Lotman Peters-Matthews

(Ryan) of Visalia, Cassandra Cassaro (Tim) of Rancho Cucamonga, Mia Harenski (Drew) of San Diego, nine great grandchildren, Joanna, Mark, Thomas, Evan, Cross, Mia Joy, Christian, Jack and Nolan, his brother Alden Nunes (Marlene) of Tulare, and his sisters Velma Brase of Lindsay, Alice Vierra of La Mesa, and Alvera Ragsdale of Fresno.

He provided the solid comfort that only a father could. He instilled a strong work ethic, the principles of caring and responsibility, and strong family values in all his succeeding generations.

He will always be our hero. His protective love will be greatly missed.

Services for Manuel Alfred Nunes are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Chapel Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at East Union Cemetery, Manteca.
