Porfi, 83, a resident of Lathrop for 43 years, passed away peacefully with his loving family and beloved wife by his side.

Porfi was preceded in death by his brothers Nick and Sam, and his sister Ernestine Vigil.

He was born on March 11, 1926 in Walsenburg Colorado. Porfi moved to Lathrop in 1966 with his wife Josephine. He was in the US Navy and  worked  for Sharpe Army Depot for over 33 years before he retired.

Porfi who was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church,  loved spending time with friends and family. He loved fishing, camping, gardening,traveling and telling jokes that made his friends and family laugh. He also loved taking trips to Reno and was a devoted football fan who loved to watch his favorite team, the Oakland Raiders.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years  Josephine A. Vigil; sons, William (Virginia) Vigil, Alex (Roxanne) Vigil, Samuel Vigil , Phillip (Joyce) Vigil and Joe Vigil; and his sister Stella Gutierrez.  He is also the proud grandfather of 54 grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca, where there will be a visitation  on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by a rosary at 5 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Park View Memorial Chapel and interment will follow at Park View Cemetery.
