Ruby J. Harmon - Ford entered into rest on March 6, 2011 in Pleasanton, California at the age of 97. She was born on April 27, 1913 as Ruby J. Kennedy to the late Mr. and Mrs. Grover and Mary Kennedy. She joins her first husband in heaven of 50 years the late Rev. Jarviel T. Harmon and her second husband of 13 years the late William Ford.

Ruby is survived by her seven children; Jacqueline Christopher of Livermore, James Harmon of Texas, Tom Harmon and wife Peggy of Texas, Richard Harmon and wife Nadine of Virginia, Harriett Sutherlin and husband Rich of Livermore, Keith Harmon and wife Maria of San Francisco and Paul Harmon and wife Linda of Sunnyvale. Ruby was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition, Ruby has four surviving siblings; Claude Kennedy of British Columbia, Melvin Eugene Kennedy of Redding, George Charles Kennedy and wife Mary of Texas, and Ruth Taylor of Fresno.

Ruby and her late husband Rev. Jarviel Harmon pastored many Southern Baptist Churches in California. Ruby became a Christian at the age of 9 and continued to be an active church member for most of her life. She was a long time member of French Camp Baptist Church. Music was a big part of Ruby’s life; she enjoyed singing in many different duet groups and quartet groups. Her favorite pastime was challenging herself with crossword puzzles.

Ruby’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry &Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Parkview Cemetery. An online guest book is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com (search obituaries).
