Walt grew up in Manteca where he graduated from Manteca High School in 1942. He joined the Army and fought in World War II as a machine gun crewman with the 44th Division in France. After the war, Walt graduated from San Jose State with a chemistry degree and began his career as an oil refinery chemist.

Walt married the love of his life Dona Gearhard in 1949. They raised five children, Danny, Rick, Laurie, Tim and Lorna. Their family grew to include 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

After retiring, they joined Diablo Bounders motorhome group, where they started long lasting friendships, while traveling all across the US.

He was always happy to tell his stories and how it was for him growing up. His passion for math and chemistry was always a huge part of his life.

As the head of such a large wonderful family, our father, grandfather, and great grandfather was always there for all of us. He generously and compassionately stood by us all through our good and bad times and leading always by example. He will be in our hearts forever and the memories will never be lost.

Friends and family are invited to join us at a Celebration of Life Memorial. It will take place Saturday, March 10, at 11:00 am at the Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church, 10 Moraga Valley Lane, Moraga.
