The Valley Oak League schedule is in full-stride and the Weston Ranch Cougars put themselves in a slightly better position Friday with a 3-1 victory over host Kimball High in Tracy.

The Cougars opened up the contest clicking on all cylinders, jumping out on Kimball with a 3-0 first half lead. The two clubs would produce an uneventful second half, giving the Cougars that much needed first victory in VOL action.

“The boys really played well today,” Weston Ranch co-head coach Julio Madrigal said. “They came out enthusiastic about wanting to get their first league win.”

Enrique Jiminez scored twice for the Cougars, netting his first goal in the 17th minute and his second in the 31st. Willam Gerron assisted Jiminez’ second, while Joshua Mayorga assisted on the first one.

Robert Cisneros would add an unassisted goal in the 39th minute, helping to build the Cougars’ early 3-0 lead.

Weston Ranch will try and make it back-to-back victories when they meet up with the Sierra Timberwolves Tuesday.
