RIPON — Ripon Christian celebrated senior night Friday with a 34-7 Southern League win over Waterford.

Quarterback Danny Vos helped spearhead the attack for Ripon Christian High by completing 17 of his 24 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns.

He also connected on four of his five extra-point kicks.

With the victory, the Knights (4-2, 5-4) leapfrogged over Waterford in the league standings.

Entering the game, both teams shared identical records. Ripon Christian, however, helped its cause towards reaching the post season with the win and must do likewise next week at 1-8 Gustine.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Knights went to the work in the second. Vos opened the scoring by connecting with Brandon Dotinga on a 45-yard pass play.

Later in the quarter, Vos found Kalvin Prins, his towering 6-foot-5, 195-pound target, on a 33-yard scoring strike.

The Knights made it 21-0 after the intermission, with Vos spotting James Vander Schaaf on 5-yard toss.

Ripon Christian added to its lead when Andrew Brown intercepted a pass and scored, making it 28-0.

He was also solid on offense, gaining 190 yards on 23 carries and catching three passes for 55 yards. Brown’s fourth-quarter score came on a 7-yard toss from Vos.

Dotinga hauled in six passes for 127 yards.

Waterford’s only score came in the third quarter. Klay Hopper reeled in Josh Hickman’s 52-yard pass, with Salvador Rubio providing the PAT kick.

Ripon 43, Riverbank 7

The Chiefs all but secured their playoff chances with the Trans Valley League win at Riverbank.

Ripon (3-2, 7-2) has a three-game winning streak entering next week’s regular-season finale against visiting Orestimba.

Few details of the Ripon-Riverbank game were available at press time.
