Manteca, East Union rack up freshmen victories

Victor Martinez scored three touchdowns for Manteca on Thursday in a 46-3 shellacking of Sierra in Valley Oak League freshman action at Guss Schmiedt Field. 

Martinez (eight carries, 105 yards) scored on 1-, 14- and 63-yard runs. Calvin Ramsey (nine carries, 67 yards) added a 2-yard touchdown run, Krys Charles (six carries, 87 yards) scored from 34 yards out and Aiden Nicolas (eight carries, 72 yards) had a 46-yard touchdown run. 

Angelo Lopez had six tackles and a fumble recovery for the Buffaloes. Dominic Neuharth added five tackles, David Vega four and Jonathon Aranda an interception.

Jordan Shinn kicked a 27-yard field goal late in the game for the Timberwolves. 

Stewart Pidaso led Sierra with 49 yards on 14 carries.

Weston Ranch 12

Trailing 6-0 entering the second half, Jesus Gomez and Ryland Toves connected on a pair of scoring passes for the Lancers for the narrow win.

Gomez (3 of 4 passing, 107 yards) had scoring throws of 27 and 68 yards to Ryland Toves (two catches, 95 yards). Anthony Corrales added 17 carries for 92 yards and Tyler Diaz had six carries for 44 yards.

Aaron Jaimes returned the kickoff following Toves’ first touchdown 86 yards for a touchdown and a 12-7 Cougars lead, but Fernando Duran intercepted the conversion attempt and that proved to be the difference in the game.
