EU wrestlers collect 5 first places

MODESTO – East Union tallied five first-place finishes Saturday in the Jaguar Invite at Gregori High School, a tournament with girls and junior varsity boys divisions.

For the Lancers girls, Grace Lacanglacang (108) was first and MacKenzie Romero (170) third.

Adam Jimenez (120), Nick Luna (138), Ciaran Kemptner (160) and David Alvarado (195) all finished first for East Union. Andrew Andozola (108) and Anthony Vargas (195) were second and R.J. Baccigglupi (120), Adam West (115) and Cathan Sharp (220) were third.

For the Sierra boys, Manny Zavala and Gabriel Balleza each finished first in heavyweight competition. (There were multiple brackets for the same weight divisions at the tournament.) Sean Brink (285), Alan Mejia (120) and Ronan Meade (152) were second.

Alexa Garcia (189) kept up her outstanding season for the Timberwolves girls with another first-place finish. Ezra Moral (101) and Arianna Rosas (108) were third and Alyanna Loaiza fifth.

Isaiah Evans (220) was the lone first-place finisher for the Manteca boys. Raul Corona (182) and Ayden Marshall (138) finished second with Fabian Mendoza (113), Joseph Macias (126), Kiersten Melan (132), Sean Melan (145) and Jerry Walser (160) finishing third.

Yadhira Rodriguez (111) finished fourth for the Buffaloes girls.

Liberty Tournament

BRENTWOOD – Ripon’s Salvadore Guzman finished first Saturday in the boys sophomore division

Julian Reyes (freshman boys) was third and Conner Self (junior varsity boys) was fourth for the Indians.

In the girls division, Ripon’s Melissa Perez was first, Riley Rangel second with Kadence Kosaka and Annie Wood finishing third.
