Lathrop dominates double dual meet

The Lathrop High varsity boys and girls track teams each improved to 2-1 in the Valley Oak League after impressive showings in a double dual meet at Weston Ranch on Thursday.

Lathrop’s boys held off Central Catholic 76-59 while beating rival Weston ranch, 73-44. The girls trampled Central 87-21 and outpointed Weston Ranch, 69-35. The undefeated junior varsity boys and girls teams both won by wide margins.

The Spartans recorded 1-2-3 sweeps in the 100, 400, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x100 and high jump, triple jump and long jump at all four levels.

Isaias Hunter anchored the varsity boys with wins in all three jumping events. Sophie Serrano (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump, 4x100) paced the varsity girls with four first-place finishes. Terinna Phillips (400, 800, 4x400) and Delicia Higares (100, 200, 4x100) were other major contributors.

In JV, Michael Ramos won the 100 hurdles and long jump while aiding both winning relays. Tremayne Willis (100, 200, 4x100) was part of three victories. The JV girls had solid efforts from Myani Thornton (100, 200, 4x100) and Verly Santos (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles).
