Manes, Buitrago power RC girls in lopsided win

RIPON — Emily Manes and Abby Buitrago jump started the Ripon Christian attack early, and the Knights kept the pressure on visiting Delhi in a 10-0 Southern League girls soccer win.
Manes finished with four goals and Buitrago had two to go with four assists, and they combined to score four of the first-place Knights’ five goals. Manes opened the floodgates in the seventh minute when she volleyed a corner-kick cross from Buitrago.
Buitrago doubled the lead with a 20-yard blast, then sent a through ball to Manes to make it 3-0 by the 19th minute. Ripon Christian (7-0, 10-4-1 overall) led comfortably 6-0 at halftime. Bethany Silveira, Taylor Alger, Emma Cormier and Janine Prins each added a goal. Thea Vander Meulen, Manes, Alger and Prins also had one assist apiece.

Sierra 7, Lathrop 2
LATHROP — It was a well-contested match for a half until Sierra (7-1 Valley Oak League, 16-2 overall) blew it open with four goals in the second half.
Jadyn Shinn amassed four goals and three assists for the Timberwolves, while Minty  Doyle, Daisy Valencia and outside defender Yolanda Tavares each chipped in a goal and an assist.
Lathrop (2-5, 2-7) got its goals from Kayla DeAnda and Kassandra Ceja, and goalie Noelle Smith accumulated 19 saves.

East Union 3,
Central Catholic 0
Ilena Rivera caught fire for the Lancers (5-1-1, 9-3-1) scoring all three of their goals in a statement win over a fellow VOL contender. Central Catholic fell to 5-2 in league.

Delhi 6, Ripon Christian 1
RIPON — The visiting Hawks (6-1 SL) exploded for four goals in the final 23 minutes of the first half.
Matthijs Moret got Ripon Christian (1-6, 2-13) on board in the second half after receiving a cross from Ryan Garcia.
