ROSEVILLE — Ripon scored the final 11 goals of the match Saturday in a 13-3 win over Sonora for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III boys’ water polo championship at Woodcreek High in Roseville.
The Wildcats (18-11) led 3-2 in the second quarter when Kole Gonzales (five goals, assist, steal) got two in a row for the Indians (17-6). Noah Esenwein (goal, two assists, three steals, shot block) gave Ripon a 5-2 halftime lead and the Indians never looked back.
Darnay Mack was remarkable in the net for Ripon with 13 saves. Daniel Esenwein added three goals, four steals, a shot block and won four sprints. Nick Gagnon posted two goals, two assists and two steals; Ty Wells had two goals, two steals and a shot block with Nick Delgado and Diego Moreno each getting an assist.
