Sierra opens season with wins at West

TRACY — Sierra’s boys and girls swim teams started their seasons with wins over West at Pinkie Phillips Aquatic Center on Tuesday.
The boys team won 96-74 and were anchored by standouts John Buonauro, Trevor Fast and 2015 state meet qualifier Scott Tolman. They were each part of four first-place finishes.
The girls coasted to a 97-65 victory with Ashlea Green winning four events.
Buonauro led a sweep in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.46 seconds. He also won the 50 free (23.27) and joined Tolman and Fast on the 200 medley relay. Tolman dominated the 200 individual medley in 1:54.01, took first in the 100 breaststroke (57.46) and led the winning 400 relay. Fast won the 100 butterfly (54.93) and 100 backstroke (1:01.02) was on the winning 400 free relay with Buonauro.
Ashlea Green led a sweep in the 50 free in 20.02 seconds and won the 100 back in 1:14.93. She also helped the 400 free and 200 medley relay teams take first. Katie Bender also swam the 200 medley relay while winning the 100 breast (1:28.94). Priscilla Ohnmacht took first in the 200 free (2:51.25).
