Ricky Van Unen scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute on Daniel Lambdin’s third assist of the match, as Ripon Christian squeaked past visiting Le Grand 4-3 Wednesday.
The Knights (1-1, 4-6-1 overall) led the Southern Athletic League game 3-1 at halftime, but Le Grand (1-2, 1-6-1) evened the score with goals in the 58th and 66th minutes.
Lambdin got all of his assists on set pieces starting in the second minute when he connected with Isaiah Vander Woude. Three minutes later, he set up Drew Meester. Jack Dooley converted a penalty kick.
Goalie David Koolhaas finished with four saves. Ripon Christian hosts Waterford next Monday.
VARSITY GIRLS
Manteca 6, Galt 1
The Buffaloes (11-0) continued their hot start in the non-league match at Weston Ranch.
Joanna Roa had two goals and two assists, and Alexia Alva scored twice. Kailee Jackson and Sienna Jones each contributed a goal and an assist. Makyla Spencer dished out two assists.
“Took us awhile to break them down,” Manteca coach Justin Coenenberg said. “They’re pretty organized defensively, but we moved the ball really well tonight and dominated possession. We were finally able to break them down, create opportunities and start scoring.”
Manteca travels to Half Moon Bay on Saturday.

Colton Grimm was assisted by Carter Van Groningen, Jack de Jong by Evan Pryor and Nick Varni by Matthew Dyk.
Wesley Vander Woude and Grimm split time as goalies, each ending with one save.
