Eierman’s two-run triple leads Ports to win

STOCKTON (AP) — Jeremy Eierman hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning, leading the Stockton Ports to a 5-1 win over the Lancaster JetHawks on Wednesday.

The triple by Eierman capped a three-run inning and gave the Ports a 3-1 lead after Josh Watson hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.

The Ports later tacked on two runs in the sixth when Ryan Gridley hit an RBI single and Robert Mullen scored on a wild pitch to secure the victory.

Stockton right-hander Bryce Conley (2-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on just three hits over six innings. Opposing starter Will Gaddis (5-6) took the loss in the California League game after allowing three runs and seven hits over five innings.

Ryan Vilade homered and singled for the JetHawks.

Nuts 4, Storm 1

LAKE ELSINORE (AP) — Joseph Rosa hit a two-run triple in the top of the 11th inning to help lead the Modesto Nuts to a 4-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Wednesday.

The triple by Rosa scored Nick Thurman and Johnny Adams. Later in the inning, Modesto added insurance runs when Jake Scheiner hit an RBI single and Joe Rizzo scored on an error.

In the bottom of the inning, Lake Elsinore scored on a double by Gabriel Arias that brought home Luis Campusano. However, the rally ended when Nick Duron got Jack Suwinski to fly out to end the game.

Rosa was a home run short of the cycle, driving in two runs in the win.

Duron (1-1) got the win in relief while Franklin Van Gurp (1-3) took the loss in the California League game.

River Cats 8, Bees 5

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Francisco Pena homered and singled, driving home two runs as the Sacramento River Cats topped the Salt Lake Bees 8-5 on Wednesday.

Joey Rickard doubled and singled with an RBI and a run for Sacramento.

Trailing 3-2 in the fourth, Salt Lake tied it up when Nick Franklin hit an RBI single, driving in Kaleb Cowart.

After the teams traded runs in the fifth, the River Cats took the lead in the seventh inning when Levi Michael hit a solo home run and Mike Gerber hit a two-run home run.

The River Cats tacked on another run in the ninth when Rickard hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Michael.

Starter Yoanys Quiala (5-5) got the win while Alex Klonowski (0-5) took the loss in relief in the Pacific Coast League game.
