Brody Carabello and Bode Hiatt connected for a pair of touchdown passes Saturday, and Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz ran for two more to lead the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity to a 40-0 pounding of the Lathrop Jr. Spartans in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action.

Carabello (164 yards passing, 34 yards rushing) found Hiatt (four catches, 120 yards) with touchdown throws of 9 and 68 yards and Carabello hit Josiah Moreno (five carries, 33 yards; two receptions, 35 yards) with a 27-yard scoring strike. Menchaca-Ortiz (six carries, 33 yards) scored on 1- and 5-yard runs and Moreno rounded out the Manteca scoring with a 55-yard punt returned for a touchdown.

The Jr. Buffaloes defense spent a fair amount of time in the Lathrop backfield with Brennan McMichael making six tackles – five for a loss – and Jonathan Arnoldus adding five stops, four for a loss.

Carabello and Menchaca-Ortiz made six tackles apiece with five each for Gabe Scott and Richard Smith.

 

Manteca Cowboys 26, Tracy Buccaneers 8

Manteca’s Darien East scored three rushing touchdowns and ran for 197 yards.

East (seven carries, 197 yards) scored on a 76-yard run and a pair of 45-yard scampers. Kionte Wakefield (three carries, 70 yards) added a 51-yard touchdown run.

Logan Yagi made six tackles for the Cowboys. Adam Spino and East added five stops apiece.

 

Junior varsity

Jr. Buffaloes 22, Jr. Spartans 0

Manteca’s Santino Sanchez scored two touchdowns.

Sanchez (five carries, 74 yards; 21 receiving yards) scored on runs of 3 and 46 yards and John Ellis (13 carries, 77 yards) scored on a 5-yard run. Blake Scalise was 2 of 3 passing for 32 yards with three carries for 21 yards and Jayden Hernandez contributed to the offense.

Sanchez made seven tackles, Keoni Oliver six, Aiden Freitas (forced fumble) five and three each for Scalise, Jesus Bermejo and Nicholas Jimenez with two apiece for Ellis (forced fumble), Ethan Bonderer, Navi Murillo and Grayson CalvilloNolan.

 

Buccaneers 21, Cowboys 6

Erian Johnson Jr. scored the lone Manteca touchdown on a 1-yard plunge.

Giovanni Perry completed nine passes for 63 yards for the Cowboys and Johnson Jr. gained 35 yards on 17 carries. Devin Cortinas, Jonathan Morales, Terrance Montgomery and Jonathan Morales contributed to the offense.

Morales made six tackles, Bryant Lewis (forced fumble) five with four each for Mateo Salcido, Montgomery and Elijah Abadan.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 19, Buccaneers 7

Manteca’s Mateo Gavino scored two touchdowns.

Gavino (four carries) and Stevens Charvell (five carries) each gained 32 yards and Max Rios logged 41 yards on four carries and a touchdown. A.J. Aguirre contributed on offense.

Gavino made 10 tackles and forced a fumble. Charvell added seven stops with four apiece for Angelo Martinez (interception) and Rios.

 

Jr. Buffaloes 26, Jr. Spartans 7
Manteca’s Quinnie Dunbar ran for two touchdowns and A.J. Haines threw for two more.

Dunbar (12 carries, 133 yards) scored on runs of 20 and 47 yards. Haines posted touchdown throws of 28 yard to DeShon Benton Jr. and 30 yards to Dennis Johnson with Jake Husband contributing on offense.
Dunbar, Husband, Brock McCurdy, Benton Jr, and Frankie Archuleta had four tackles each with three apiece for Dennis Johnson and Trenton Fitzhugh (interception).

Manteca’s Jackson Patterson, Santana Frias Ismael Aceves made three tackles each.

Andrew Cypert, Typhon Gonzales, and Angel Oliveras added two tackles apiece.
