Ripon resident Vivienne Taylor has earned a spot on the Team USA BMX racing team.

The Ripona Elementary third grader, who turns 9 this weekend, will represent the Red, White and Blue at the Union Cycliste Internationale 2024 BMX Racing World Championships on May 12-16 in Rock Hill, S.C.

Taylor qualified for the event this past weekend, placing second overall in her class in a World Championship qualifier held at Metro BMX in Bakersfield. She won one race and was twice a runner-up.

Her recent results have her ranked No. 3 in the state in the 9-year-old Expert class. This is the start of her third year of racing. Last year, she ended up sixth in California and seventh at the USA BMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Okla.

Taylor trains with older brother Ricky five times per week at Spreckels Park BMX.
