ROUNDUP: Uecker’s even 62 leads Ripon golf in TVL tourney

 Paced by Vincent Uecker’s even-par 62, Ripon won the sixth Trans-Valley League boys golf tournament Thursday at Jack Tone Golf Course with a 323 team score.

The Indians were well clear of second-place Hughson’s (400). Livingston (418) and Escalon (497) followed on the team leaderboard.

Uecker was pushed by teammates Jeremie Little and Ty Herrin, who both carded 63s. Marcus Jose Atienza turned in a 66. Richie Hughes and William Peters each had a 69.


Ripon Christian 213, Denair n

Ethan Schenk was low medalist with a 2-over 38 in the Southern Athletic League match at Dryden Park Golf Course.

No. 5 player Ben Miller turned in a solid 39. Matthew Ubick followed with a 42, Trey Van Groningnen a 43 and Carter Van Groningen at 51.


Lathrop 500, Grace Davis 519, Johansen n

The Spartans won the Western Athletic Conference double-dual match Wednesday at Pheasant Run in Chowchilla, carding their best score of the season.

Freshman Brayden Beckman led them with a 3-over 75 that included two birdies. Jayden Wall (93) and Raphael Iniguez (102) netted their personal best scores. Ashneil Jeet and Jared Isla each had a 115.

The WAC Championship is next Tuesday at Pheasant Run.


SOFTBALL

Central Catholic 4, Manteca 2

A three-run fourth inning was the difference for Central Catholic (6-1, 16-5 overall), which avenged its lone Valley Oak League loss and remains tied for first place with Oakdale.

Lauren Moncada plated both runs for the Buffaloes (5-2, 14-4), one of them on her solo homer. She was also knocked in by Maleiah Garza’s hit. Sienna Lowery went 3 for 3 with a double.

Madison Harrison went 3 for 3 with a double and a solo jack to lead Central Catholic. Winning pitcher Emry Couch gave up three hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings.


Ripon Christian 14, Waterford 3 (6)

In Waterford, Ripon Christian (4-6 Southern Athletic League, 4-12 overall) scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the mercy rule in play.

Kara Koolhaus led the assault, going 3 for 3 with three runs and an RBI. Ally Brown scored three runs and drove in two. McKenna Hodgson and Samantha Lowe also had two RBIs apiece. Julia Van Groningen plated three runs.

Lowe also pitched all six innings for the Knights, striking out three while giving up four hits and two walks.
