Black leads Rebels past Titans

Rushing his way into the end zone twice on Sunday wasn’t enough for Delta Rebels varsity quarterback Michael Black.

While his defensive teammates held up their end of the bargain with a safety, Black showed his versatility by dropping back and hitting Alex Villanueva with a touchdown strike that helped solidify the Rebels’ 35-6 victory over the visiting Modesto Titans.

Jay DeFrenchi joined the party with a rushing touchdown of his own.

Rebels 39, Titans 20

Patrick Sholund rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns, but he did much more. He would find the end zone two more times, one on a pass play and the other on an interception return.

Quarterback Victor Robles finished the day with two touchdown passes – one to Shawnice Parker and the other to Sholund.

Isaac Rosales Jr. led the defense with five tackles and a fumble recovery while Pablo Salcedo and Isaiah Sholund each tallied several tackles for a loss.

Novice

Revels 27, Titans 7

Daroun Nourn proved to be the Delta Rebels’ offensive machine Sunday as he led his novice squad to a solid victory with a pair of rushing scores and a touchdown catch.

Manteca Chargers

Novice 52, Vikings 7

It was a balanced offensive attack that helped the Manteca Chargers novice improve its record to 3-0 Sunday by laying a 52-7 thrashing on the Modesto Vikings.

Quarterback Trinidad Diaz connected with receiver Joseph Lomeli for an early touchdown pass, and a stingy defense – led by Kyle Boulter’s sack and Jarad Jones’ pair of interceptions – helped anchor the offensive play of the squad.

The team will travel to Tracy on Saturday to take on the undefeated Cougars.
