CVYFC: Jr. Buffs stomp cross-town rival Cowboys

Vinny Diaz scored three touchdowns for the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes varsity in a 52-0 blanking of the Manteca Cowboys in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action at Dino Cunial Stadium.

Diaz (five carries, 134 yards; 26 yards receiving) scored on runs of 7, 9 and 42 yards. Aizen English (two carries, 52 yards; five yards receiving) had a 46-yard touchdown run, Navi Murillo (three carries, 38 yards; 26 yards receiving) ran in a score from 13 yards out, Arieon Shortridge scored a 28-yard touchdown on his only run of the day and Ethan Bonderer returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Brach Carabello tallied 65 yards on 6 completions.

Grant Catalano, Murillo, English, John Ellis, Israel Juarez and Kristian Miranda made six tackles each for the Jr. Buffaloes. Aiden Freitas, Diaz, John Ellis and Grayson Keller contributed to the defense that posted nine sacks.

 

Tracy Buccaneers 20, Lathrop Jr. Spartans 8

Logan Martinez scored the lone Lathrop touchdown

Martinez (three carries, 36 yards; three receptions, 27 yards) pulled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Guardiola (7 of 10 passing, 32 yards; four carries, 12 yards).

Carlos Rivera paced the Jr. Spartans defense with 11 tackles. Martinez, Johnny Silvas and Kenneth Certuche added 10 stops apiece, Carlos Guiterrez nine, Alluis Lopez (blocked conversion kick) and Juan Pablo Flores eight tackles each and Manuel Lupercieo (forced fumble, fumble recovery, blocked conversion kick) seven. 

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 14, Jr. Buffaloes 12

C.J. Stevens ground out 82 yards with a touchdown for the Cowboys.

Stevens (15 carries, 82 yards) scored on a 5-yard run and Ruben Cedano pulled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from Mateo Gavino (4 of 7 passing, 40 yards). A.J. Aguirre contributed to the Cowboys offense.

Stevens and Ivan Torres made six tackles each, Hudson Green and Aguirre five apiece, Jaden Grimal (fumble recovery) four and Cedano (interception) three.

 

Buccaneers 12, Jr. Spartans 0

Lathrop’s Jace Williams (fumble recovery) and Josiah Lopez tallied eight tackles apiece.

Denzel Taani-Taufui added seven tackles with six each for Fabian Islas and Ethan Jones.

Dominic Ramos and Jace Williams contributed to the Jr. Spartans offense.

 

Rookies

Jr. Buffaloes 21, Cowboys 0

Jeremiah Williams scored three touchdowns for the Jr. Buffaloes in the second quarter.

Williams (nine carries, 117 yards) scored on runs of 3, 45 and yards. Jessy Arceo added 154 yards on 13 carries.

Arceo and Gilbert Maldonado posted six tackles apiece and Evan Hernandez tallied three stops. Tiger Singh made an interception and Malachi Wright contributed to the defense.

 

Buccaneers 26, Jr. Spartans 0

Lathrop’s Kamren Smith and Villiami Luaki posted eight tackles each.

Valentino Abila chipped in six tackles for the Jr. Spartans and Marshal Johnwell five.

Josh Certuche paced the Lathrop offense.

 

Starts

Jr. Buffaloes 49, Cowboys 0

Manteca’s Brixxton Fryer scored three long-range touchdowns and six of the seven Jr. Buffaloes touchdowns were 50 yards or longer.

The three scores for Fryer (five carries, 176 yards) were 50 yards and two of 60 yards. Tate Gallardo scored on his lone carry of 65 yard as did Jose Cortez Jr. on his lone carry of 50 yards. Carter Louis (three carries, 72 total yards) added a 50-yard touchdown run and Kayden Edwards scored on a 4-yard run. Adrian Mena added 35 yards on three carries.

Gallardo made five tackles, Josiah Pasana-Odom three with defensive contributions from Fryer, Edwards, Dayson Powell, Easton Franco, and Tobias Valentine.

Andrew Cypert contributed to the Cowboys offense. Jaxson George and Martin Maddox posted

five stops apiece for the Cowboys and Ezekiel Mendez four.

Lathrop’s Issac Certuche scored on an 87 yard run.

Rayce Collado posted nine stops for the Jr. Spartans, Certuche seven and Mathias Pena (forced fumble, fumble recovery) six.
