Ripon Chiefs hold off intracity rival Knights to win TVYFL opener

The Ripon Knights took an early lead when they returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but Conner Due’s late interception helped seal the 21-12 win for the Ripon Chiefs in Trans-Valley Youth Football League varsity action Saturday at Ripon Christian High School.

Strong play from the Chiefs offensive line of Jacob Dominiquez, Jayden Costa, Austin McDowell, Blake Austin and Mason Due helped pave the way for a pair of touchdowns by Henry Cook and Reid Rangel along with a touchdown pass from Mason Dotson to Maximus Durrer.

The Knights won the JV game, 21-6. Additional information was not provided as of press time.

The offensive line of Jackson Hale, River Kontos, Josh Mohler and Jake Brown helped open up a 190-yard ground attack with four touchdowns led by running backs L.J. Santiago and Tyson Santiago.

The Chiefs totaled 391 offensive yards with Brady Sarrat going 3 of 5 passing for 101 yards with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Molson.ya

Titus De La Torre’s led the Chiefs defense forcing a turnover and causing multiple fumbles, limiting the Knights to just 116 yards.
