Ripon Little League’s Oregon Ducks battled two teams and the stifling heat to win the District 67 Tournament of Champions junior-division last Saturday at Legacy Fields in Tracy.
Coach Ryan Alexander’s Ducks soared past Salida Scream 12-3 in the semifinals, then took care of Tracy Khaos 11-0 for the pennant.
Kendall Alexander calmed the Khaos attack in the title game, pitching a no-hitter over five innings, while striking out 11 against five walks. She also helped set the tone offensively, getting a hit and scoring in the first inning.
Sophia Jauregui led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Ana Shriver also drove in a run.
Annabelle Hoff was the winning pitcher in the semifinal. She fired six strikeouts, walked six and scattered two hits for three unearned runs in five innings.
The Ripon offense capitalized on nine walks and six stolen bases. Lyla Hartley roped an RBI double in the second inning, giving the Ducks an early 3-1 lead. They broke it open with five runs in the third, getting two off a single from Shriver, who finished 2-for-2. Emma Jasper knocked in another run on a fielder’s choice.
Up next is the District 67 All-Star Tournament hosted by Ripon starting on June 13.
