The Modesto Raiders junior varsity toppled the Ripon Knights junior varsity 24-20 Saturday in Trans-Valley Youth Football action at Johansen’s Dan Gonsalves Stadium in Modesto.
Ripon’s Robbie Neiweg posted 216 passing yards with a 96-yard touchdown pass for Tyce Thompson (176 yards receiving, 55 yards rushing) and one of 25 yards to Brayden Camara (two receptions, 40 yards). Thompson added a 53-yard touchdown run.
The offensive line of Caleb Thoming, Lorenzo Mariscal, Aiden Lovell, Jase Blanco, Austin Brown and Hudson Postma along with fullback Keagan Heuvel did a great job of blocking.
Ripon’s Shooter Bruns made 10 tackles, Adrien Anaya, Eli Perez and Jharon Jackson seven, Camara and Luke Sanders six with five apiece for Daniel Teicheira and Keagan Heuvel.
Novice
Knights 31, Raiders 12
Ripon led 13-0 after one quarter and never looked back.
Lucas Durao (seven carries, 109 yards; two receptions, 59 yards) ran for Knights touchdowns of 37 and 41 yards behind the blocking of Nathaniel Grimlado, Levi Reeder, Logan Stirrat, Jaxson Quilantang, Brayden Bettencourt, Hunter Margreiter, Cohen Vermeulen, Elijah Hernandez, Jaxon Muschott and Jonny Mulkey.
Ripon’s Nikolai Gorbunoff (four carries, 114 yards) scored on a 79-yard run and on a strip and fumble return of 65 yards.
Chase Johnson tallied 11 tackles, Gorbunoff 10, Aiden John, Quilantang and Durao seven apiece with four for Logan Stirrat (fumble recovery).

Raiders 24, Knights 18 (OT)
Ripon’s Gil Rangel scored a pair of touchdowns.
Rangel gained 213 yards on eight carries. Mac Ward (five carries, 60 yards) added another touchdown, Ben Holfman chipped in 32 yards on seven carries and Grayson Campbell contributed to the offense.
Grayson Campbell tallied eight tackles for the Knights, Holfman seven, Rangel and Mack Ward four with three each for Gunnar Gorbunoff, Hudson Browne and Nicolas Rangel. Jack Cardoza recovered a fumble with Nicolas Pantoja, Dane Van Horn, Malachi Clayton, Walter De Jong and Benjamin Pantoja all contributing on defense.

Lodi Colts junior varsity 27, Manteca Chargers
Lodi used a 21-point third period to blow the game open on Saturday at the Grape Bowl in Lodi.
Manteca’s Nolan Herrera (five tackles) and Derek Trujillo (four tackles) each recovered a fumble, Isaac Rashada and Isaac Aguilar each added four tackles, with three for Julio Rizo.

Following a scoreless first period Lodi scored 20 points in the second.
Manteca’s Cameron Love gained 50 yards on four carries, made six tackles and forced a fumble. Alfredo Weigner tallied six stops, Aiden Reyes (fumble recovery) four, with three each for Juan Talavera and Jameson Vargas.
Junior novice
Colts 31, Chargers 26
Trailing 18-13 at halftime, Manteca could not close the gap in the second half despite Derringer Spangler’s career rushing day.
Spangler gained 280 yards on nine carries with touchdown runs of 55, 63, 65 and 65 yards. Hunter Seals added 55 yards on five carries.
Spangler posted nine tackles, Amari Maxwell three, with Ryan Hand, Francisco Santos and Moses Zamudio each contributing to the defensive effort.
