Sangers homers stagger Stockton

SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Brendon Sanger homered twice, driving home four runs and scoring a couple as the Inland Empire 66ers beat the Stockton Ports 7-1 on Tuesday.

Matt Thaiss singled four times, also stealing a base for Inland Empire.

Inland Empire went up 4-0 in the fourth after Sanger hit a two-run home run and Taylor Ward hit an RBI single.

The 66ers later added two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh. In the fifth, Sanger hit a two-run home run, while Jose Rojas hit an RBI single in the seventh.

Jesus Castillo (4-2) got the win in relief while Stockton starter Evan Manarino (4-4) took the loss in the California League game.
