Taking care of those who walk through the door of Delta Bank is something that Vice President/Director Toinette Rossi takes very seriously.
And it all starts by taking care of the employees who manage the day-to-day operations of the business that her father helped found in 1973 along with two other local businessmen that wanted to do things a little bit differently.
“There really weren’t the national mega-banks bank them that we’re seeing now, but they were starting to see that and wanted people to have a place where they could turn to local people to help them with their financial matters,” Rossi said. “This bank is, and always has been about the customers that walk through that door.”
Instead of having an office overlooking the beautifully decorated lobby floor, Rossi has an office that open up directly to those who pass by – always quick with a hello or a short story from a customer that has already turned their children on onto the perks of a community bank.
And her job moonlight as a developer with properties like Villa Ticino and Villa Ticino West under her belt hasn’t affected her ability to both maintain the friendly relationship with her staffers and her customers.
And that’s why on Friday she’ll once again get an award for the Best Boss/Supervisor when the plaques are handed out on the showroom floor at Manteca Trailer shortly after 6:30 p.m.
“I’m just so honored that my employees and those in the community feel so highly about the job that I’ve done over the years here,” said Rossi, who handles the operations for the Manteca-based bank that was established with agricultural roots more than three decades ago. “We want our customers to be happy with where they bank, and if our employees are happy, then that’s going to be passed on as well.”
And fortunately for Rossi, she’s got somebody that she can turn to that has made it her mission in order to cater to the customer no matter what the situation.
For the last 15 years, Operations Officer Phyllis Abram has been working diligently to make sure that the experience that those who chose to keep their money at Delta Bank are satisfied – earning the last straight three customer service awards handed out during the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s annual Best of Manteca awards.
With a husband who has a stake in a local business and serves on the planning commission and Abram herself wrapped up in as many community service related organizations possible, it’s loving where she lives that allows her to pass that experience on to the customers that have taken a liking to how she handles their exchanges and their experiences.
“It’s not just the customer service aspect of the job itself.” Abram said. “I enjoy coming in every day and working with the people that I do, and I enjoy helping people whether it’s a simple transaction or a complicated one.
“I stop and ask people about their day and I know about their families and what they have going on – it’s something that sets us apart from other banks and is something that people really seem to enjoy.”
