STOCKTON – Not too long ago, Jeremy found himself at Flips.

It wasn’t the hamburgers – choices galore here and at a pretty good size – but rather the milkshakes.

“They’re awesome,” he said in a recent review.

In particular, Jeremy, who lives in Stockton, singled out the Nutella banana shake. “For this particular shake, you could taste small chunks of banana, which was great,” he said.

Jeremy praised Flips for providing big diameter straws for the shakes. He also liked that the family-owned place topped every milkshake with a scoop of ice cream.

Another patron, J.D., also makes it a point to come out to Flips for that very reason. Never mind that the location is in not so great part of town and the small parking area.

“The Nutella banana milkshake is the bomb,” he said.

This hazelnut spread was first imported from Italy to the U.S. over 25 years ago. Since then, it’s grown in popularity as Nutella has no artificial coloring or preservatives.

Located at 2503 Waterloo Road, Flips is open Mondays through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Besides the basic flavor – chocolate, strawberry and vanilla – Flips has an array of milkshakes, from the aforementioned Nutella to pistachio or mint chocolate chip.

“Manny’s has been one of my longtime favorite,” said Sara, who no longer lives in the area.

Besides the food, she was quick to praise Manny’s for the milkshakes.

“This is the only place I know that will mix milkshakes flavors for me,” Sara wrote. “I love to mix the banana and coffee flavors, and (Manny’s) make their shakes with real ice cream so they’re thick and satisfying.”

Located at 1612 Pacific Ave., Manny’s offer chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, coffee, banana and pineapple milkshakes. Cost: $2.95.
