San Joaquin County is getting a new winery and an existing one is expanding.

The owners of Windmill Ridge Winery on the south side of Linne Road west of Depot Master Drive southeast of Tracy are seeking county approval to conduct 36 marketing events a year for up to 100 people.

The San Joaquin County Planning Commission had previously approved the construction of a 3,300-square-foot winery and tasting room with no marketing events.

Windmill currently produces 2,800 gallons of wine a year but intends to kick production up to 36,000 gallons of wine.

The proposed M2 Winery is envisioned in Acampo on the south side of Peltier Road, 3,740 feet east of Lower Sacramento Road.

The plan calls for a winery with a capacity of 36,000 gallons to be built over 10 years. It includes a maximum of 30 marketing events a year for up to 150 people each time. It includes a 9,500-square-foot multi-purpose winery building plus two 7,500-square-foot production buildings.

Both winery plans are before the San Joaquin County Planning Commission when they meet this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services, 1601 East Hazelton Ave., Stockton.
