Sierra High School grad, Bryan Thomas, 24, has been home in Manteca after serving a tour in Afghanistan as a fire support specialist and forward observer.
Thomas has now attained the rank of sergeant.
Thomas and his wife Amanda presented their families with a newborn baby recently. “That was my Christmas present,” quipped his dad, Les Thomas. The senior Thomas is known for his patriotism in heading the crew of volunteers erecting American Flags along the streets before dawn on red letter days following the 9-11 terrorist attack in 2001. Les Thomas is also a Korean War veteran.
Thomas recently re-upped in the Army after three years of service and is now assigned to a base in Vilseck, Germany where he will be part of the Second Striker Brigade Combat Team.
He is a graduate of the NCO Academy and now the (ALC) Advanced Leader Course with duty also spent at Fort Polk, LA.
Thomas graduated from Sierra High School in 2006. He had attended French Camp Elementary School from the first to the third grade, St. Anthony’s Catholic School from the third to the sixth, home schooled in the seventh and Stella Brockman Elementary in the eighth grade.
He and his small family will soon be stationed near Nuremburg, Germany. Thomas expects to be doing another tour in Afghanistan during his next three years in the service.
